SupaVac have been working closely with ZAR Lynx Malaysia for FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) Tank sludge removal & cleaning with its unique SV Solids Pneumatic Air Operated Vacuum Pump. The chosen SupaVac solids pump has provided increased efficiencies, reduced completion times with increased Safety requirements of working within a confined space.
Earlier this year a demonstration of the abilities of the SV Solids pump units was conducted at the Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) with very impressive results. The SV pump delivered up to 30m vertical discharge; following this demonstration, the contract for FPSO Tank sludge removal and cleaning was awarded.
ZAR Lynx were recently awarded a tank cleaning contract through MMHE (Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering) utilising the SV110V solids pump and the results were very impressive. ZAR Lynx and another contractor were awarded the task of desludging and cleaning FPSO vessel storage tanks; two tanks of the same size, in the same location.
The other contractor used the traditional manual labour method requiring 19 people. ZAR Lynx required only 8 people and the SupaVac SV110V solids pump to do the same job in a shorter time frame! In addition to the time and effort saved, the fact there were fewer people onsite also resulted in an improved safety factor.
An ongoing issue that FPSO owners and operators experience is that the vessels need to be in dry dock for the tank sludge removal and cleaning for a number of days; resulting in high costs. ZAR Lynx and SupaVac are working together to develop the SV700 series specific for this application. The current SV60V & SV110V models have the ability, but typically require a larger access point in the tank. The SV700 series will also allow for the possibility of the tank sludge removal & cleaning to occur whilst the vessel is afloat reducing dry dock costs and reducing the down time for the FPSO which will be a significant benefit to vessel owners and operators.
